Peer Pressure | Motivational Monday

First of all, I would like to say a humungous thank you as I, earlier today, reached 1000 views. It is a massive mile stone for me seeing I only started to post at the start of January. Now lets crack on!

Welcome followers! Today I wanted to talk about something i have been a victim of; sometimes in a good way or a bad. Peer pressure is an often occurrence, especially in teenagers like me.
Just for you guys who are not sure what peer pressure is, i’ll give a shot at explaining it. Peer pressure is when people continuously and forcefully influence/make you do something you don’t want to do. However, I have to confirm that there is a significant difference between encouraging one and peer pressure.

I thought I might I've you some tips on how to conquer peer pressure. Here we go!

Self-confidence

Making decisions on you own is tough enough, without a group of people influencing your decisions. Improving your self-confidence will give you the confidence to confront your peers and stop yourself from doing whatever it may be.

Tell someone

One consequence of peer pressure is feeling left out. For example, “you are scared of heights and don't want to go on a rollar coster. After the peer pressure has seized you start t feel left out; seeing your friends having so much fun.” Express your feelings to someone you trust and they will understand.

 Say ‘no’

Peer pressure can easily drag you into something horrific. Learn to say ‘no’. Ok, you may be scared because you don’t ant to be teased but think of what the consequence might have been if you hadn’t said no and went through wit those action. They might be good or bad. But one thing  you must learn is when to say ‘no’.

This post means a lot to me. I hope this helps you understand peer pressure and how to deal with it.
Next post coming soon,
Kate
