Monthly Favourites | January 2014

Welcome followers! Now it is edging closer to end of the first month of 2014, January, it is time to share with you some of my favourite make up, music, films, and general stuff. What have you enjoyed this month? Tell me below in the comments. Here we go!

Hot chocolate

I have to say January is a very cold month here in the UK so a lovely, warm, comforting drink like a hot chocolate is wonderful. One thing that does top it off is the whipped cream and marshmallows. Can't get better than that. Go try it!

Foundation

During January, I started to regularly wearing foundation. My foundation is really moisturising and isn't to thick so feels really nice on my skin. It also has great coverage of the skin so it last forever! I included in my Everyday Make-up post so go check it out to find out some awesome stuff!

Earrings

On Christmas day, I received plenty of earrings from Santa Claus and during January I have literally struggled to wear all of them. But i have to admit I am a bit addicted about buying them. My collection pretty much tripled in size this month. Let me know if I should do a a blog post on earrings.

Candles

This month I re-decorated my bedroom and one thing I adored was the beautiful smell of candle. Since then my large stash of candles have been lit everyday. It calms be down especially when doing school work.

Friends

Finally and most importantly my friends have been amazing! Ok, I have to admit we do have some of our strange moments. But thats not the point. I have realised the importance and influence they have on my life.

Never Give Up | Motivational Mondays

Welcome followers! The new school year has started recently here in the UK, and honestly it hasn’t been the greatest of experiences. The whole reality that you must wake up at 6:30 in the morning which makes you even more desperate to sleep in until 10. The fact you have double maths, english and all 3 science doesn’t seem to make it much better. I think we have all experienced it during our life time however you must look towards the future and what you will be hit with; good or  bad. The future is an exciting time so never give up.

It is not only school that you need to dedicate yourself to but life, work and you general health and well-being. You may have had a fall out with your friends but try and get them back. You may have the worst boss imaginable but overcome him/her. You may be suffering from the common cold or a terminal illness but remember what you have been fight for before. There is no point giving up when there is a chance.

This is just a brilliant example of never giving up. When you get hit down pick yourself up!

We all have been in the situation when you feel like you have hit rock bottom then unimaginably fall  even deeper but remember all those other times you have got back up a tried and never gave up on.

The advice I can give you is why give up now after all the fighting you have already done? Think to yourself and ask  yourself that exact question and hopefully it will change you mind.

Everyday Make-Up

Welcome followers! Now school has started and time is running short and a quick and simple make-up routine is vital. Of course your taste in make-up is probably different as at our school is strict when it comes to make-up (this is stating it in a lenient way). The make-up i will show you today is simple but effective. Hope you enjoy! Here we go!

First apply your foundation. BB cream is basically a foundation but is healthy for your skin. So someone like me benefits form this with bad skin. It blends with you skin amazingly and has great coverage but certainly isn't too thick!

As you can probably see, next is concealer. Dab a small amount on any blemishes or spots. I use 'Rimmel Match Perfection' which covers spots easily and blends to your skin before and after a sunny holiday!

Of course, mascara and eyeliner is next. You can do it in either order but it doesn't really matter. I tend to do mascara then eyeliner. My mascara is from 'Rimmel London'. I wrote a review on it so check it out Here. My eyeliner is from 'Barry M' and is liquid in the colour black.

Once that is sorted, you can apply lip gloss or lip stick depending on you. My lipstick is from 'Rimmel London' (again) in the Kate Moss range in the shade 101 - Rossetto. It is a light pink which isn't too obvious. However what I usually do is quickly put some lip gloss or vaseline on for a bit of a shine.

The last stage os my everyday make-up is powder. I always use this to set my make-up (especially for PE) for a lasting effect. This powder comes in many skin shades so will suit everyone.

If you are still reading then I am incredibly impressed as this was quite a long post.

Film Review

Welcome followers! Today I will be talking about some of my most recent film and DVD favourites and explaining each storyline to you! Hopefully you will be able to have a few movie nights with popcorn after reading this post. Here we go!
(Some are suitable for restricted ages. Please asks an adults permission first if you wish to purchase any films.)

Inbetweeners Series

The Plot
The inbetweeners series follows the misguided footsteps of four teenage friends, Will, Simon, Neil and Jay; all portraying a different and definitely unique characters. They try to navigate their ways through sixth form, without getting into too much trouble.

My View
I personally think this is a hilarious comedy seeing the weird and wonderful side of 4 friends. I strongly recommend this series.

21 Jump Street

The Plot
Two rookie cops are assigned to pose a two undercover high school students in a chance to bust a drugs ring. They go through ups and downs risking the case.

My View
21 Jump Street is a comedy/action film showing the stupid side of two adults. If you are into this sort of movies I recommend you check this out.

The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas

The Plot
A bored Bruno, an innocent eight year old, adventures into the woods when he discovers something unknown. He then soon meets a young boy who both quickly become fond of each other.

My View
Set in WWII, ‘the boy in the striped pyjamas’ is a thought provoking and slightly upsetting DVD expressing the reality of events during this horrific time.

Peer Pressure | Motivational Monday

First of all, I would like to say a humungous thank you as I, earlier today, reached 1000 views. It is a massive mile stone for me seeing I only started to post at the start of January. Now lets crack on!

Welcome followers! Today I wanted to talk about something i have been a victim of; sometimes in a good way or a bad. Peer pressure is an often occurrence, especially in teenagers like me.
Just for you guys who are not sure what peer pressure is, i’ll give a shot at explaining it. Peer pressure is when people continuously and forcefully influence/make you do something you don’t want to do. However, I have to confirm that there is a significant difference between encouraging one and peer pressure.

I thought I might I've you some tips on how to conquer peer pressure. Here we go!

Self-confidence

Making decisions on you own is tough enough, without a group of people influencing your decisions. Improving your self-confidence will give you the confidence to confront your peers and stop yourself from doing whatever it may be.

Tell someone

One consequence of peer pressure is feeling left out. For example, “you are scared of heights and don't want to go on a rollar coster. After the peer pressure has seized you start t feel left out; seeing your friends having so much fun.” Express your feelings to someone you trust and they will understand.

 Say ‘no’

Peer pressure can easily drag you into something horrific. Learn to say ‘no’. Ok, you may be scared because you don’t ant to be teased but think of what the consequence might have been if you hadn’t said no and went through wit those action. They might be good or bad. But one thing  you must learn is when to say ‘no’.

This post means a lot to me. I hope this helps you understand peer pressure and how to deal with it.

Mascara Review

This review is going to be based on my favourite mascara I have ever bought. The 'Day 2 Night - Glam Eyes' produced my 'Rimmel London' is a mascara with two brushes making it suitable for any eyelashes or various looks. Here we go!

First, is the volume brush suitable for thin but long looking eyelashes but still gives a little length as well. It has great coverage and has last me over a year and still going however it depends how often you use it.

The second brush is the length brush head for thick but short looking eyelashes. I don't use this as often as I have thin and long eyelashes but I have certainly heard amazing reviews about this.

This mascara gives you a variety of looks demanding on your choice. Applying a vast amount of volume and length is perfect for a night out or party. Using one or the other in a moderate amount gives you a natural and subtle look great for school or work.

You can purchase this 'Rimmel London' mascara in any drugstore shops. I have it in the colour black but I am sure you can buy it in some different colours.

Please comment below your experiences of this mascara. it would be interesting to hear your thoughts. Also let me know if you have any blog requests for my next post.

Music Review

Today, i thought I might share with you some of my thoughts and opinions on some different music; albums and singles. Hopefully, after reading this, you can delve into some new artists and genres. Here we go!

'The Goo Goo Dolls' are a rock band. My favourite single is 'Iris'.

'The Heist' or 'Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' are a hip hop/ rap duet who create a unique type of music. my favourite single is 'Same Love'.

'Rebecca Ferguson' is pop artist. 'I hope' is a very meaningful song and I recommend it.

I tried to do a variety of genres and I hope you have found some new music to listen to this year.

My Inspiration

There are a lot of inspiring people out there, in the big wide world, whether they are alive or dead, famous or not, child or adult; but one thing I have deducted is everyone is an inspiration in their own way. You reading this now could be an inspiration to your little brother or sister or to a million people for hundreds of countries. I personally have more than one inspiration all for different reasons. But today I won’t to share with you one of my most amazing inspirations. This is Nick Vujicic.

This is Nick and he was brought up in Melbourne, Australia. He was born with no limbs but that didn't stop him living his life. Here is a video about his story.

When I first watched this video, it made me think. There is no point thinking throughout your life what you can't do. Think of all the things you can. However, the one observation from this video is don't judge people by what they look like.

Nail Varnish Review

Out in the world of drugstore and high street nail varnishes, you can find a wide range of brands, colours, sizes and shapes. Honestly, I don't own too many types but hopefully this post will help your views to determine your specification when choosing nail varnishes in the future. Today I will be focussing on pinks and purples.

This is the 'Bourjois' nail varnish in the colour 28 - Rose Lounge. It is a lovely pale pink colour and is a good size and shape but does not have the correct thickness to cover you nail with a prominent colour.

Next is the 'Rimmel London' nail varnish in the colour 622 - Oh Boy You're So Finell. The purple colour isn't to dark or light; just perfect. The  consistency of the 'Rimmel London' nail varnishes has a lot thicker getting brilliant coverage.

The 'Maaybelline New York' is called 93 - Peach Smoothie'. This is my definite favourite of the selection because of many properties. The colour is a beautiful pale pink but strong enough the be noticed. The thickness is just as good as the one before; a great coverage of the nail.

To conclude, the 'Barry M' nail varnish is in colour 11 - Dragon. Also this nail varnish has a brilliant coverage, as I said before. I recommend you use this colour on a night out or a party as the colour stands out however isn't too vibrant.

Please comment your thought done below in the comments. I would love to know your experiences.

New Year Resolution

As you probably know it turned 2014 recently (9 days ago to be precise). Sitting at my desk, so bored, I decided to share with you my new years resolutions. A pattern that has occurred over many years is I promise myself to stick to my resolutions however gradually it breaks down and I just give up. But this year is going to be different (I say this every year but this time I actually mean it). There is a big range of ideas that spin in my head around this time. For example lose weight after the ginormous Christmas dinner my Grandparents prepared. To do at least one piece of exercise a week. Help out with family chores. Read more books. However, every year these resolutions nearly almost fail. So this year i challenged myself to do something different or obscure. This was when I was introduced to blogging.

At first I was a little scared as i have to admit that writing isn't one of my strengths. But once seeing some spectacular examples from my friends I had a reality check. It is meant to be fun not a challenge.

Now writing my third post in two days, I can tell you that Blogging IS fun and a most brilliant experience.

One thing I have already learnt this year of 2014 is don't hold back. Life is to short to worry what you friends will think. Hold your head high and be confident in yourself. Do something you enjoy and really fun not what something you don't like just because everyone else is.

What I got for Christmas?

I know its a bit late but Christmas is never a celebration you get sick of. One thing I have noticed is the change in morals behind christmas that I believe in. I think almost everyone has experienced the excitement of opening the presents and wondering if santa has visited but now i realise the precious time that Christmas holds. The presents are still (and always will be) a big factor, but seeing the massive grin on your dads face when he opens his present form you.

However today I would like to share with you some of the presents i received during the Christmas period.

'The fault in our stars' by John Green is an amazing and thought provoking novel based on the stories of cancer suffers. It is a definite must read a I recommend this book.

I received a pair of woollen cream mittens from my Aunt. The are lovely and warm and are perfect for a cold day out.

In my stocking i found 4 pairs of lovely earrings. I recently got them pierced for my birthday so i certainly needed to stock up on some just like these.

Under the tree I unwrapped a beautiful jewellery box with 6 compartments from my Grandparents. It is perfect for putting it hair bands, earrings, grips and  jewellery.

Here are some of the sentimental gifts I was given this Christmas. Hope you enjoyed a lovely Christmas.
